Sesame Street Cast Gets New Look After Being Acquired By Netflix
LOS GATOS, CA – Following the Trump administration’s recent decision to cut funding for PBS and NPR, Netflix has acquired the hit children’s show Sesame Street.
Under the new agreement, the Sesame Street cast will undergo a significant overhaul to emphasize diversity, inclusion, and social awareness.
Elmo, known for his red fur and high-pitched voice, will be portrayed as Black with a deep urban accent. Cookie Monster will be Hispanic and will enthusiastically eat tortillas instead of cookies. Big Bird will keep the same shape but will be explicitly identified as a transgender Indigenous person of color.
Some characters, like Bert and Ernie, will retain their classic look, but their storyline will focus on their homosexual relationship and aspirations to become top drag queens on Sesame Street.
Oscar the Grouch and The Count will be removed from the show due to concerns that they may offend homeless individuals and Jewish people, respectively.
At press time, Netflix also announced plans to acquire Paw Patrol and launch a reboot episode titled ACAB in June.
