Young Couple Excited to Close on First Open House Brochure
SPRINGFIELD, VA - After saving for nearly ten years, a local young couple was finally able to make one of their lifelong dreams come true and close on their first open house brochure.
“This is such an exciting moment for us,” 28-year-old Katie Johnson told the real estate agent. “We know the brochure is free, but with how expensive everything is, it’s all we can afford. We can’t wait until we finally have the money to buy a home in twenty to thirty years.”
Katie Johnson works two jobs as a marketing director and the owner of her own micro-clothing brand. Her husband, Greg, also works two jobs as a financial analyst and bartender.
The couple met at just 18 years old during their freshman year at the University of Virginia and instantly knew they were soulmates. According to many of their friends, they both shared the dream of buying a home and starting a large family as soon as they graduated.
However, due to the rapidly increasing costs of homeownership and childcare, it has taken much longer than expected for them to achieve their dreams.
Despite having around $25,000 in the bank, their financial adviser informed them that they would need to save between $40,000 and $50,000 more for a down payment on a 1,000-square-foot, one-bedroom condo. After that, the best loan terms they could qualify for were a 70-year, $1,000,000 loan, in which ten of those years would only be allowed to be paid back by their children.
At press time, Katie and Greg were reportedly considering becoming 1/10th fractional owners of a newborn baby who was foreclosed on by the hospital when the biological parents couldn’t afford to pay to take their baby home.
